Man Uses Discarded Receipts To Obtain Cash Refunds
Security personnel at a local business requested that an investigation be initiated Saturday after they found that a man had been using discarded receipts in order to obtain cash refunds.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called to Walmart at around 8:00 p.m. to take a report on the mater. Loss Prevention officers reported discovering that the man had entered the store that day with a receipt he had apparently found.
Security footage showed him moving about inside the store, collecting the items listed on the receipt. He then took the items to the Customer Service area where he obtained a cash refund for the amount of $77.67.
While reviewing security footage, security personnel found that the same man had used the ruse to get cash on at least two other occasions. They found that he had obtained $75.67 on July 1 and $53.79 on June 25.
The man provided customer service employees with personal information. Detectives are continuing to investigate the matter.
